National Fish Passage Grant Applications Due
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Western Washington Fish and Wildlife Conservation Office is pleased to announce a call for the annual National Fish Passage Program (NFPP) projects in western Washington outside of the Columbia River Basin. This program provides funding to restore native aquatic species passage. This information will be placed into a database and then used to establish funding needs of the National Fish Passage Program. The potential NFPP projects will be reviewed and prioritized by the end of February 2025. Final funding decisions will be made once a federal budget is passed at which point the project proponents will be notified. If awarded, project sponsors should not expect to have money allocations until at least Fall 2026. Typical funding amounts range from $75,000 to $200,000.
Projects should be able to demonstrate ecological benefits for Federal trust species, exhibit permanence of fish passage benefits, and make use of the most current scientific knowledge and proven technology.
NFPP proposals are due January 16, 2026, at 5pm, and need to be submitted electronically to olivia_williams@fws.gov.
